The militias are being armed by the Sudanese government, who is supplied with 90% of its weapons by China in exchange for increasing shares of Sudanese oil. In March 2009, President Omar al-Bashir was charged with war crimes by the ICC, but questions remain as to what real impact this will have on the people in Darfur.
