Great animation showing how Type-A influenza mutates via antigenic shift--mixing pieces of bird, pig and human viruses into a potentially deadly new form. The key, though, is how easily the virus is transmitted. Beautiful and chilling.
Though many animals carry their own strain of influenza, those the have been transmitted from animal to human are:
 
 
 

  • Seasonal Flu -- different than a cold, and much more serious
