In the year 2000 alone, 2.5 billion dollars were spent on advertising prescription drugs to consumers in the United States. In 1999, it was estimated that the average American saw 9 advertisements for drugs every day.  Over the past few years, anti-depressants have become blockbuster business, becoming the 2nd most-prescribed type of medication in America.  Are anti-depressants being prescribed too often to patients who may not need them?  Or are we all legitimately freaking out, man?
