Neill Duffy: I Just Want to Make the World a Better Place

Tribe Management CEO on what it takes to use sport and celebrity for good.

There’s a huge opportunity for sport, media, entertainment, and celebrity to partially reposition itself to recognize that it has a role to play in making a difference in the world.

“I don’t want to change the world, I just want to make the world a better place,” says Neill Duffy, CEO and Managing Director of Tribe Management, a “pro-social” business that harnesses the commercial, communicative, and emotional power of sport for organizations with a social or environmental mission. “It’s kind of like sport for good instead of sport for entertainment,” says Duffy. One of the company’s many partnerships, with Green 2.0, will fuse music with carbon offsetting to generate $1 billion through 2031 to support efforts to conserve millions of acres of Amazonian rainforest from commercial exploitation. “No doubt there are easier careers to pursue, but I feel really fulfilled doing what I do,” says Duffy.
