Last night on The Colbert Report, Michael Pollan, author of The Omnivore’s Dillemma, presented the host with a bottle of his homemade brew. 1) Of course Michael Pollan makes his own beer. 2) Of course Colbert had some junk food to go with it.
Today Pollan tweeted, “Someone must have tipped him off to my surprise—he was ready with the Bugles.” Yup, Colbert had a bag of those ridiculous cone-shaped chips to wash down his artisinal beer.
After the cute (slightly awkward) start, Pollan pitched the new edition of his book, Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual. He asserted that he “isn’t a food expert,” just a guy using common-sense guidelines to eat better. Ahem. Really, Michael? Not an expert? Colbert wasn’t buying it, either.
What did ring true was this rule from the book: “If you’re not hungry enough to eat an apple, you’re not really hungry.”
It’s so true. So painfully true.
