Big monoculture grassy lawns mean gallons of wasted water, not to mention the all-but-necessary chemical fertilizers and weed killers.  As our attitudes toward water conservation and chemical pollutants change, and as we all slowly go broke, it might be time for this country to take a second look at the lawn.
