Erma Klatt has been working since she was a young teenager, but at 84 years old, she shows no signs of stopping. After the life that she has lived, you’d think Erma would be ready for a break. During the Great Depression, she lived in eight foster homes from age four until she was old enough to work. When she was 16, she joined the war effort building and repairing battleships.
Since then, Erma has devoted her life to service. She has been a foster grandparent for 16 years, working with second-graders with special needs. Even though she’s certainly earned some rest by now, her passion for service keeps her going.
Next time you’re feeling too busy or tired to take part in your community, think of Erma.
