Vice President Joe Biden has long been an advocate for supporting women. In 1990, he introduced the Violence Against Women Act to the Senate. Four years later, it became law. Though the most recent iteration of VAWA passed has been criticized as weak, the Vice President is still fighting for women, this time with a new PSA released by the White House.
The 1 is 2 Many campaign was launched by Biden last year in response to the alarming statistics about violence against women. The campaign’s efforts focus on reducing dating violence against young women and teen girls. In this most recent video, President Barack Obama and several male role models lend their voices to the cause, in hopes to set an example for young men. This clip features Eli Manning, Jeremy Lin, Jimmy Rollins, Evan Longoria, David Beckham, Joe Torre, and Andy Katz.
Do you think male role models speaking out can help stop violence against women? What solutions would you suggest?
