We know it's tempting when you see those cute dogs in the pet store window. But, remember, they may have been raised in puppy mills, where animals frequently suffer from dehydration, starvation, and hygiene-related illnesses.

According to the Humane Society of the United States, puppy mills keep dogs in poor conditions, and often slaughter animals once their breeding days are done. These animals are bred specifically to be sold, while millions of dogs and cats without homes are euthanized in shelters ever year.
