Epic ‘Daily Show’ Segment: We’ll Have Flying Cars Before Women Get Equal Pay

There should be a word for something that’s sad but hilarious, because Kristen Schaal just nailed the feeling with this report on gender pay inequality.

Women make up nearly half the U.S. workforce, but a report from the Institute for Women’s Policy Research revealed last week that it will be 2058 before they earn as much as men do for the same work.

Women can tell you they have been fighting for pay equality for decades: Those who work full-time, year-round, still only earn 78 cents on the dollar compared with men. Legislative efforts trying to secure equal pay haven’t secured equality just yet.

The Daily Show segment above illustrates how the failure to date is pretty tough to accept, especially considering there are some pretty impressive things we’ll all have sooner than we will equal pay.

For example, we could have flying cars, like the Jetsons. We’ll probably have more apps than we ever wanted. And as comedian and Last Man on Earth star Kristen Schaal points out, we’ll be able to use a 3-D printer to create a human heart “30 years before getting pay equality.”
