After stepping off the plane in Rwanda, TPL producer Alex Stapleton was confronted with a giant poster warning of the Ebola threat. Stapleton made it back without contracting the deadly disease, but her trip was not without risk.

Her bus broke down on a rocky dirt road, leaving her and her crew vulnerable. While Stapleton understands the value in developing a vaccine to combat Ebola, she has seen firsthand that the infrastructure needs to change so that people can receive medical attention.
