Jordan Younger branded herself "The Blonde Vegan" and named her blog that too. Then she realized her restrictive diet had resulted in orthorexia nervosa, in which she became obsessed with clean eating. Despite criticism from the vegan community, Younger rebranded her diet and her blog as The Balanced Blonde. Younger has since ditched the labels and added new foods to her daily routine.

Younger explains the warning signs surrounding her disordered eating, including difficulty eating in public, anxiety over consuming food she had not prepared, and planning her entire life around access to clean food.
