When it Comes to Marijuana Laws, Obama’s Website Should be Called Same.gov

This writer is upset that the marijuana legalization question was ranked #1 on President Obama’s Change.gov site, but the questioned was answered 4th. He believes that Obama’s team failed to explain the "no" answer, and didn’t even honor the 1st place popularity rank the question earned when it drew the most votes from the public. The lack of seriousness with which this issue is treated in political culture is due to the government's reluctance to address the subject. "They never could have imagined that this experiment with online democracy would find us standing at the front of the line. They shook their heads, sighed and joked that this is what you get when you let the frickin’ internet dictate political priorities."

I think that complaining that your highly controversial question didn't get the recognition it deserved when it was addressed as the 4th question in a nationally televised press-conference is a bit like being upset about the china in a first class airplane dinner...
Regardless of how YOU view the question of legalization, it is not a done deal; yes, it will bring it money and reduce marijuana related arrests. But, it will also increase marijuana use (you can argue if you'd like), and have other consequences we can't fathom right now.
I think the topic should be studied more seriously, but I'm not sure that legalization will provide the "nothing but good" outcome one side believes so strongly in.
