Since 2002, 779 people have been held at Guantanamo.  As of June 2009, 229 remain.  Who are these men?  Where did they come from?  Will they be released?  The NYT provides an interactive database of Pentagon information and NYT research on each man who has been or is currently in Guantanamo.  Explore their cases and a timeline of releases and transfers.

As the 7th anniversary of the prison approached in January (2009), nearly 1 of 5 detainees was on hunger strike in protest. But that wasn't the first time hunger strikes had been used at Guantanamo by the inmates. The statistics are shocking.
