Did you know that almost 3.3 billion people are at risk for malaria? It's easy to forget about an illness that we don't witness every day. See where it’s most common.

There are several ways to stop the spread of malaria:

  • Indoor Residual Spraying: spraying the inside of homes with insecticide to kill mosquitoes. Get the basics about indoor residual spraying here. (For a really in-depth look at indoor residual spraying, go here.)
  • Bed Nets: a sheer piece of mesh fabric that keeps mosquitoes and other insects from disturbing the person using the net. Bed nets are the most cost-effective prevention method, and they work!  Go here and here to read bed net success stories.
  • Eliminating Mosquito Breeding Grounds: Mosquitoes breed in wet, hot areas. Eliminating stagnant water reduces mosquito populations. Unsurprisingly, climate change is improving conditions for breeding grounds, which is bad news for regions of Africa that were previously unaffected.
