How Do Charter Schools Differ from Regular Schools?
Comment from the contributor:
Charter schools are publicly funded institutions that use waivers from public school districts in exchange for the guarantee of offering better academic performance. Charter schools serve as an alternative to traditional public schools, and each school is created to tailor to the needs of a specific community, bringing educational choice and innovation to a local public school system.
Each charter school must meet a specific set of laws and accountability standards, and if the charter school does not perform better than its public school counterpart, it is closed down. There are advantages and disadvantages to a charter school education, but many believe that turning under performing schools into high performing charter schools as a necessary step in education reform.
