From Worcester Telegram & Gazette News -- A new grant to the Worcester Advisory Food Policy Council will enable the Hunger-Free & Healthy project to help individuals suffering from hunger seek help. Hunger-Free and Healthy helps people access available programs through several strategies, including training outreach workers at local hospitals, health centers and the Worcester Housing Authority, in addition to food stamp advocacy and expanding farmers markets in the South.
“Some 82,779 individuals were served, and when their multiple visits are taken into account, the number grows to 380,000. These hungry people represent one in 10 of us living in Central Massachusetts,” Mrs. McMurray said.
