Congo Re-erupts
Comment from the contributor:
The conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo is anything but simple. In many ways a result of the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide, the conflict is riddled by proxy wars being fought among rebel groups from the Congolese government, Congolese tribes, and Rwandan rebels, often seeking control of the rich land and its abundant resources.
Since 1998, over 5 million people have died, making it the most deadly conflict since World War II. If there is one thing to explore to understand the conflict, this multi-media interactive from the International Crisis Group is it.
Explore background of the conflict, profiles of the key players, a timeline, conflict maps, and a video discussion with the Africa Director of the Crisis Group. This isa must-see.
