Comment from the contributor:
Congo is home to some of the world's richest mines, mines that produces key minerals used to create iPods, laptops, cell phones, and other consumer electronics. But at what price? Armed groups constantly fight for control of this rich land, but the human cost is unfathomable.
When the armed men aren't exacting local taxes, they go into the villages and steal, kill, and rape. They force children into child labor in the mines. They rape men and women into submission, to humiliate and force them to dig for the minerals that continue to fuel the militias' wealth.
