I love bacon. The taste, the smell and the texture of crispy delicious bacon strips go unmatched. That is, within the right context. Meaning, by itself. With breakfast. On a burger. On pizza (occasionally). I am a bacon purist living in paradise with my only fears being a bacon shortage and bacon abuse.
And abuse is rampant.
No, Denny’s and Burger King, my ice cream—in shake or sundae form—is not a suitable place for bacon.
Elsewhere, bacon is being added to junk food, alcohol, and more—sometimes in pure form, but more often than not in the guise of some artificial bacon flavor which is sure to leave a nasty, lingering aftertaste and pungent aroma.
Worst of all, bacon is being abused for non-food products purely for marketing reasons. Click through the gallery to see some of the most flagrant abuses of bacon.
