Jordan interview for Standard Operating ProcedureRenowned photographer Nubar Alexanian, who has covered all of Errol Morris' film sets since 1992, was given unprecedented access to the set of Standard Operating Procedure. The result: an exhibition of photos that is touring around the country. During the exhibit's stop at the Walker Art Museum in Minneapolis, filmmaker Errol Morris and photographer Nubar Alexanian discussed the importance of the infamous Abu Ghraib photographs. Says Alexanian: "It's impossible to look at the photographs from Standard Operating Procedure without referencing the original photographs taken by the soldiers. The original photographs taken in Abu Ghraib rely on one of the primary strengths of documentary photographs: bearing witness. My images bear witness as well, but to something more accessible: the creative process of a documentary filmmaker."
