September 14, 2011
As Pakistan struggled to recover from the damages of last year's monsoon season, 2011 has heaped destruction upon destruction, leaving behind uncertainty and instability from its torrential downpours. This year's floods have destroyed or damaged 1.2 million houses and flooded 4.5 million acres. Western aid groups and officials say more than 300,000 people have been made homeless.
