Much to the dismay of animal rights advocates and pet owners, California Governor Jerry Brown is proposing a repeal of the Hayden Law for budgetary reasons. This will lessen the amount of time shelters are required to hold stray dogs and cats from six days to three, and eliminate veterinary care for animals that need it. Also, rabbits, reptiles and other animals could legally be euthanized upon arrival. If you feel this is a step backwards and want to keep Hayden Law in place as is, make your voice heard.
Apple has been in the spotlight this month, and this time, it's not for a fancy new iPad. The company is taking some major heat for health and safety problems in their manufacturing plants. According to CNN, workers in China "staged strikes and even threatened mass suicide to win better working conditions." In 2010, there was a string of suicides at Foxconn plants where Apple products are made. What did the company do? They put up nets... If you don't want to have a pit in your stomach when you look at your iPhone, add your name to this petition urging Apple to protect their workers.

Tell the FDA to Put Limits on Arsenic in Fruit Juice
If you give your kids fruit juice, you want to read this. Last September, The Dr. Oz Show announced that unsafe levels of arsenic were present in five popular brands of apple juice—Minute Maid, Apple and Eve, Mott's, Juicy Juice, and Gerber. Urvashi Rangan, senior scientist at Consumer Reports, says the fear over the high levels is that "over time arsenic will accumulate in children’s bodies and raise their risk of cancer and other serious illnesses," MSNBC reports. On February 8, Reps. Frank Pallone, D-N.J., and Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn. introduced a bill that would require the FDA to establish standards for arsenic and lead in fruit juices. This is a step in the right direction. You can do your part by signing this petition urging the FDA to act now and regulate these carcinogens in your child's juice.

Do your part by signing this petition urging Hershey to raise the bar and stop exploiting children to grow cocoa beans.
The palm oil in Girl Scout cookies causes rainforest deforestation, endangers thousands of species, including Sumatran orangutans, and contributes to human rights abuses. That's why two girls from Michigan—Madison Vorva and Rhiannon Tomtishen—started a campaign asking the Girl Scouts USA to eliminate unsustainable palm oil from all of their cookies. The girls have been campaigning to save orangutans for five years. Their dogged efforts led to 70,000 signatures on a Change.org petition that was delivered to Girl Scouts USA. Still, despite this overwhelming support for orangutans, the organization says that consumers just don't care about palm oil. Tell them they're wrong by signing this petition to ensure no more orangutans are killed.
Governor Jerry Brown,Remember the days with Linda Rondstadt and the mattress on the floor, L.O.L.
Please---Jerry,
Give people especially older people that have no one and live alone; a better chance to adopt a loving pet.
Don't put down these poor animals prematurely.
I vote with my head but remember with all my heart!
People take animals as companions that give unquestioned love.
