While it may not be a separate species, this Cyclops shark is spooky enough to get its own mention. The baby bull shark fetus was found with a single, functioning eye in 2011 by fishermen in Baja California Sur, Mexico. The congenital condition, called cyclopedia, can occur in several species, including humans.
Cyclops sharks have only been documented a few times before, with all found still in the womb. The fact that none have been caught in the wild seems to show that Cyclops sharks don’t last long in the wild, National Geographic noted in a post.
