GALLERY: Stand Up to Stop the Mexican Drug War
More than 40,000 Mexicans have been slain in a barbarous war for control of that country's production and distribution of illegal drugs. Law enforcement has been infiltrated, government institutions have been corrupted, and the general public has little recourse in combating the brazen narco gangs.
The United States has offered military reinforcements. U.S. appetites provide the market for the drugs. U.S. laws create the criminal culture of the drug industry. Weapons manufactured in or trafficked from the United States arm the warring factions.
Rather than wait for Uncle Sam to solve the issue, the people of Mexico are taking to the streets in solidarity against the conflict that is sundering their nation.
