No matter how close companies get to perfecting their version of “Grandma’s recipe,” nothing is going to taste as good as that tart raspberry jam or garlicky tomato sauce you make from fresh produce. Plus, since you’re at the stove, you can tweak each batch to your liking. Want a less sugary jam or a spicier tomato sauce? No problem.
And that doesn't even begin to address the issue of preservatives. When you make things fresh in your kitchen, you don't have to touch artificial additives of any kind.
