What do bees, butterflies, beetles, bats, and hummingbirds have in common? They’re nature’s pollinators, ensuring that our gardens, farms, and forests grow year after year. The BeeSmart Pollinator Gardener smartphone app helps gardening enthusiasts pick the best plants for attracting pollinators in their region.
Based on your zip code, the application pulls up a list of pollinator-loving plants that thrive in your climate. Click on the plant’s name to pull up a handy profile page displaying color, type of soil, water needs, flower season, and average height. If you’re allergic to bees and want to focus on attracting butterflies, the app has multiple filters to help you search through the database of 1,000 plants based on your pollinator, as well as your bloom color, soil, and plant type preferences. The BeeSmart Pollinator Gardener can be downloaded for free on iPhone and Android devices.
