The 10 Best Colleges for Eco-conscious Students
Prospective students fearing the extra pounds that can come from the greasy food offered at university dining halls can turn to dozens of lists ranking the quality of campus food. But those more interested in a university that grows its own food, composts it, or recycles food scraps into fuel might want to peruse the Sierra Club’s annual list.
This month the environmental organization unveiled its annual “Cool Schools” list, a ranking of the greenest universities in America. In compiling its report, the group considered such factors as environmental extracurricular activities, sustainability-focused classes, and fossil fuel divestment. It analyzed 201 schools, with the majority of the top 20 located on the coasts.
