If you live in New York City or nearby you should consider stopping by the wonderful documentary production house and non-profit DCTV tonight for a screening of David Teague's INTIFADA NYC.
INTIFADA tells the story of Khalil Gibran International Academy, the United States' first Arabic language public school and the rocky beginning and first amendment legal battles that shaped the school following 9/11. It also uses unique film styles to tell the school's story, with interviews, dramatic vérité footage, news clips, graphic novel-style drawings, and an original jazz score mixing American and Middle Eastern styles.
At the screening will be Debbie Almontaser, the school's founding and former principal, director David Teague and the film's composer Richard Marriott.
