Indigenous Pitch Dance Collective, Inc. is ethnically diverse Philadelphia-based dance companies whose goal is to create and perform works of artistic excellence that reflect and highlight the diversity of our city and its native, homegrown dance styles. We support emerging choreographers by providing rehearsal space, critical feedback and performance opportunities in which to explore and develop their artistic styles. Through the art of dance, we assist and nurture children affected by natural and/or socio-economic disasters. We fulfill this mission with performances, residencies and workshops throughout the United States and abroad.
Our commitment to inspiring young minds and educating them in artistic expression is evident in our free dance camps. Our outreach has helped hundreds of children improve life skills such as: creative thinking, conflict resolution, problem solving, teamwork, discipline and self -confidence.
Children have daily technique classes, play improv games, and create art projects and choreography. Every child receives a journal to help process the theme of the day, such as community or trust, in their own words. The journals promote practical writing skills. Camp culminates in a performance that allowed the community to share the children’s creative achievements.
2010 is IPDC's 4th year in New Orleans. It is our 2nd year in North Philadelphia. IPDC will have it's first international program in July, in Limbe, Haiti!
