BBC Pays For Prank Calls

Oh my word. The British Broadcasting Company will be paying a hefty $219,000 because it made some prank phone calls. What? Comedians Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand (you'll know him from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" AND protesting the G20 summit!) made some (apparently) "lewd" phone calls to fellow actor Andrew Sachs, best known for his work on the beloved British comedy, "Fawlty Towers." After complaints flooded in, (as well as a public scolding from Prime Minister Gordon Brown) Brand resigned from the radio show, and Ross was suspended from radio and tv (he's the host of a popular eponymous show) for 12 weeks. And people say the British don't have a sense of humor! (They do, actually.) You can takepart by checking out Comic Relief, the UK-based organization that works with African relief. Check out this video for Comic Relief's Red Nose day, featuring Ricky Gervais, Jamie Oliver, Bob Geldof and Bono. Take note of the biggest crime in all of British Comedy: the laugh track.
