Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg plans to undergo chemotherapy to further treat the pancreatic cancer she underwent surgery for last month. The treatments, which were termed "precautionary" by the Supreme Court, which announced the news today, will take place at the National Institutes of Health in Washington DC suburb or Bethesda, MD. Ginsburg announced in a statement that the chemotherapy is "not expected to affect my schedule at the court. Thereafter, it is anticipated that I will require only routine examinations to assure my continuing health."
Justice Ginsburg has been fighting the good fight for Americans, even in the worst of times, for years now. Her sound judgement on the nation's highest bench has helped assure that women's reproductive rights were preserved even in the midst of a full frontal political assault on the issue. Here's hoping that her continued treatment for pancreatic cancer is successful and she can remain comfortably on the Supreme Court for years to come.
