I saw Gran Torino last night, and I have to say that though Clint Eastwood has played some gritty characters in his years making movies, I don't think he's ever been tougher and more awesome than he is in this film. I'm rather impressed that at 78, he can still direct, produce, and star in (he's almost every scene, no less) a movie of this caliber. I think Roger Ebert put it best in the open to his review of the film:
I would like to grow up to be like Clint Eastwood. Eastwood the director, Eastwood the actor, Eastwood the invincible, Eastwood the old man.
Now, there's been talk on the interwebs that Clint Eastwood is also a vegan/vegetarian poster child, what with him being able to be so hardcore while not even eating meat. However, Eastwood himself doesn't actually know where that talk comes from. He spoke with Sun Media a little while back and set the record straight (via Ecorazzi):
You find all kinds of things written about you that you don’t have the foggiest notion where they came from. I’m not a vegetarian. I love sushi and stuff like that. I do have to watch my fat intake, because I’m 78 years old.
Personally, I'm not going to argue with Eastwood, because I'm somewhat scared of him. If he told me he only eats baby seals and panda bears, I'd probably be pretty okay with that. After seeing Gran Torino, I know that even now, Clint Eastwood is not a man you want on your bad side.
However, if you are thinking about the vegetarian diet and how it might work for you, takepart and visit GoVeg.com to learn about making the switch.
