Coolest Swimming Goggles Ever?

I could tell you there are many reasons why I run: the endorphin kick, the mental clarity it delivers, the countless cardiovascular benefits.

I could tell you these things but then I would be a liar.

The reason I love to run is because I love to compete in real-time.

I love looking at my watch to track my pace. I love comparing my pace against my past runs over the same route. And I’m over the moon in love with tracking my pace against the times of other runners who have run the same route before me.

The same cannot be said about real-time swimming.

Because their heads are underwater, most swimmers—be it at the high school or Olympic level—have their coaches keep time for them. Only after the laps are completed does the swimmer know his or her splits.

Well, until now that is.

Designed by Joh Minhoo, and still in the development stage, My Pace Goggle are swimming goggles integrated with an LCD panel that allows swimmers to see their pace in real-time in the corner of their eye.

Yup—the digital timer is visible in a swimmer’s periphery.

According to Yanko Design:

A swimmer pushes the power button and turns on the electronic panel before going into water. The LCD panel of an electronic watch is attached on the inside of the right part of the goggles and gives the swimmer his record while he swims.

This device doesn’t need another reason for you to love it, but it has one: solar power. To recharge its batteries, simply let it dry in the sun after you swim.

And if Minhoo were to ever bring it to market, I’ve got a suggestion for a feature that could drive sales through the roof: ear buds that allow swimmers to listen to music while pounding out lap after lap.
