Alec Baldwin & National Geographic Show How Six Degrees Could Change The World

National Geographic's looking to light a fire under Americans who have yet to get galvanized about global warming with the premiere at 8pm tonight of Six Degrees Could Change the World. The two-hour documentary, narrated by Alec Baldwin, depicts the drastic consequences we face if the earth warms even a few degrees.

This reality-tv/disaster-movie mash-up shows a future where extreme weather is the new "normal," full of catastrophic brushfires, hurricanes, heat waves, and deadly droughts. Experts cite evidence of the toll climate change has already taken and warn of much worse to come; farmlands turned to desert, oceans reduced to acidic sewers, rainforests destroyed.

One expert assesses the carbon footprint of the American cheeseburger, tallying up the energy it takes raise the grain and then the cattle, milk the cows and make the cheese, and then to "refrigerate, cook and serve drive-by burgers by the billions."

Will Americans be terrified into turning away from their favorite fast food? Tune in at 8pm and see for yourself, if you dare.

Canada has been up till recently a world leader in health, welfare, and peace keeping. I fear we are loosing that standing by following the U.S. too closely. I still love the US and its many races! I just don't like extreme capitalism! It's Keynes' New Deal for me! Canadian Nation Inspired by Fast Food Nation We have two paths to follow, one south and one east. Should be follow someone compared to the beast? The fast food nation below is inviting us to feast. They will entice us with wealth from their green money tree. A few will get rich, and then brag they are free. Yet many will stay poor in our great big country. My 12 year old daughter, loved books and Pokemons. I fear for her future, as men play green grass lawns. Her stats are high for abuse by power pimp pawns. My 10 year old son had his peanut butter banned To save lives at school. Its hard for youth to stand Against the lure of junk food. Who had this planned? Diabetes, cancer, asthma, MS are out of control now. Or should I say controlled by man made know how. Its time for adults to wake up and have a pow wow. Discuss common sense solutions. Take our foot off the pedal Back off on corruption. Mother nature deserves a medal. She gave to us. We made it toxic. Was life so dull? As a Canadian Nation who has ties to the Queen, We should look to our past and see where we've been. Then put into place, a plan kind and keen. Lora Bruncke
