Politicians, scientists and Hollywood stars conjured up visions of cures of biblical proportions. One member of the House of Representatives equated opposition to embryonic stem cell research with refusing “a cure for your child’s cancer.” Another called such opposition “a sentence of death of millions of Americans.”

The numbers have not decreased because the black community and its leadership is approaching the problem the wrong way and using old outmoded models that will not work for them, plus there is the instituitionalized fear and inner racism.

20,000 restaurants in New York City have been urged to voluntarily stop using trans fats, considered by doctors and nutritionists to be a leading culprit in heart disease and obesity. New York's health commissioner even compares trans fats to asbestos and lead.

The following experiment was part of research into the Fallon leukemia cluster that has sickened 17 children and killed three since 1997. The last case in the cluster was diagnosed in 2004. In teh studies, laboratory mice developed leukemia-like blood symptoms after Arizona scientists exposed the rodents to tungsten at levels common in the air and water in Fallon and then exposed them to a common respiratory virus.
