In Stem Cell Debate, Moral Suasion Comes Up Short

From The New York Times -- A look at how realistic stem cell research expectations are. This article commends President Obama for his decision to lift the ban on research, yet cautions people who think this will be the cure to all terminal illnesses.

Black AIDS in the Age of Obama: Will We Resolve A Legacy of Brilliant Incompetence?
Black AIDS in the Age of Obama: Will We Resolve A Legacy of Brilliant Incompetence?

From LA Watts Times -- President Barack Obama enters the latest stage of the HIV/AIDS story in America with a pending national strategy goal.  But what will this strategy be?  "Social architect" -- and obvious HIV/AIDS advocate -- Cleo Manago believes its the tired and ignorant black leadership is the first thing that should be overhauled.  For the past years AIDS has been taken lives within the black community at an extremely disproportionate rate. The numbers have not decreased because the black community and its leadership is approaching the problem the wrong way and using old outmoded models that will not work for them, plus there is the instituitionalized fear and inner racism.

“ Yet the carrots of funding, pretenses of power, and notoriety attract the same tired pool of leadership that has besieged the black community for 20 years now.  ”
