Foodies, locavores, vegetarians, vegans, and flexitarians: heads up. The Big Apple's calling your name.

On April 3, New York City will host the first-ever NYC Vegetarian Food Festival, inviting one and all to chow down on veggie grub and learn the perks of sustainable and "cruelty-free" living.

According to its website, the festival will be a cornucopia of "food sampling and meals from New York City’s top vegetarian restaurants and food companies, vegetarian/animal welfare information tables, a raffle benefiting Empty Cages Collective and live entertainment and activities throughout the day."

Heading up the event are Sarah Gross, founder of Rescue Chocolate, and Nira Paliwoda, event planner and foodie. The two New York entrepreneurs wanted to showcase New York City's ample array of vegan options all in one place.

The event will take place at the Altman Building on 135 West 18th Street.

Bring your appetite!
