Due to a poorly maintained, outdated infrastructure in the Niger Delta, oil pumped in excess of pipeline capacities is burned off in gas flares—permeating the environment with toxins. Demand that Shell Oil end this sickening practice.
Why is it that profits become more important than protection of human life especially in poor nations and low-income minority neighborhoods in the United States of America? Even the Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico draws constant attention and ridicule because it impacts profits of coastal merchants and the lives of the wealthy and affluent. The same spill in Haiti would not draw nearly the attention and/or response. Similarly, minority neighborhoods in the Gulf Coast states of Lousiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida have historically been polluted by toxic waste landfills; toxic coal waste used as fill dirt in public housings, apartments and other community facilities; and toxic groundwater: these have caused grave disparities in the death rates of Black Americans from heart disease, stroke, respiratory diseases, and cancers. But, these facts are not worthy of front page news because the victims are Black. Further, they are often explained away by unscientific statements regarding poor health care and poor dieting habits. For the truth go to www.takepart.com/videos/is-toxic-coal-waste-killing-black-america/138673. There are many Black Americans that need to be saved from the soil they live on, the water they drink, the plants the grow, and the air they breathe everyday. And, there is a secret political agenda to keep the truth a secret from the world and the victims that live in those communities. Even when the toxic chemicals are cleaned up many Black Americans are left in the dark with no concern for their lives. They are left to die never knowing the truth behind their illnesses. Many people will find this unbelievable and unbearable as the truth sometimes presents itself. However, in this case the truth is far stranger than fiction and in order to understand the truth you must approach it with an open mind, a willingness to learn and let the facts speak for themselves. The sad fact is this will not change until we band together and demand the truth be told. Take part in making this change.

Anything to protect the environment is beneficial to us all. We only have this one planet and it's finite resources.
