Shake Shack's Tasty November Custard Calendar

At the beginning of every month I look forward to one thing--seeing what amazing flavors Shake Shack comes up with for their monthly custard calendar.  There is rarely a flavor that disappoints and you have the added bonus of knowing that you are not only eating tasty custard but that you are also supporting a super sustainable business. The custard calendar is below but first check out the specific ways that Shake Shack is working with and not against the environment with the series I did this past summer called Green Custard, Sustainable Shack:

Sadly today will probably be the last day in which I go to the wonderful Shake Shack to get custard before I depart for Ohio this Thursday.  Thankfully the flavor of the day is Salted Caramel (how amazing does that sound?) and thankfully I have two more awesome facts about Shake Shack to share with you all.

1) The wonderful folks at the Shack practice on-site composting of all organic materials.

2) Their location on the Upper West Side (the 2nd Shack in the city) was made with sustainable materials. More

Green Custard, Sustainable Shack: Luscious Local Dairy

Today my pals and I are having a giant lunch date at Shake Shack.   We're all super excited for an afternoon lunch outside (it is beautiful here in NYC) but mostly we are excited for Watermelon Tomato custard!

We've all been drooling over how amazing that sounds and this afternoon we will finally taste it!  And what's even better is that under all the (hopefully) amazing watermelon tomato flavor is a custard that is made locally with cow's milk!

The milk used in Shake Shack custard apparently comes from neighboring New Jersey and Pennsylvania dairy farms. This is a pretty big deal being that it's hard to walk down the street in New York City without passing either a frozen dairy product store or a person with a sweet treat in their hands - and I doubt most of those places are using locally produced dairy.
