It's that time again...let's check in on what Radiohead is up to! We do love Radiohead around these parts, and quite often the band will chime in on different social issues near and dear to our hearts. And let's see what the topic du jour is today...ah, yes, nuclear power.

Pitchfork draws our attention to a blog posting from Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke, which he has titled, simply, "nuclear power no thanks".

Now, we can obviously get the gist of how he feels about nuclear power, but let's see what he has to say. Here's his post, in its entirety.

under pressure from the CBI
and under the confused assumption that we can carry on consuming power as we do now into the future
and too afraid to think out of their own isolated political fuzzy cloud
the british government is commiting to build a new round of nuclear power stations
for which we dont have the money.
great.
just perfect.
well done fellas.
you've really thought about this haven't you?

A quick search tells us that the "CBI" is the Confederation of British Industry. Personally, I've said a few times that I really just don't know enough about nuclear power to say anything of usefulness here, but I suppose I ought to pass along that Yorke also linked in his post Greenpeace's page on nuclear power, as well as Friends of the Earth's nuclear page.

My guess is that here in the states, the role nuclear power should play in our national grid is going to become more prominent sooner rather than later, as more and more people see it as a cleaner alternative to coal. So it seems like I might like start learning about the pros and cons. Just as soon I finish season 3 of 30 Rock. It's so good, you guys!
