No Impact Man Screening Spectacular

The shopping frenzy of the holiday season is approaching quickly, but fortunately The No Impact Man Screening Spectacular will offer the chance for us to examine the impact that holiday spending has on our lives and the planet, and hopefully we can find saner, more sustainable ways to celebrate.  You're invited to host or attend a pre-DVD community screening of the No Impact Man documentary, which will be followed by a post-screening discussion about how we can simplify the holidays.

The screenings, co-organized by the Center for a New American Dream, will take place during the two weeks of the UN Climate Change Conference, and I think the events will be an amazing opportunity to learn how we can lower our carbon footprint and simultaneously enrich our lives.  There seems to be a common misconception that going green and reducing your ecological impact means sacrificing pleasurable conveniences or indulgences, when the reality is that by curbing our consumption and waste we have more time to enjoy more deeply satisfying activities, like spending quality time with friends and family or getting out for more fresh air.

What we often think of as convenient, such as disposable plastic products and fast food, are ultimately not so convenient for the planet or our health, and by examining and reorganizing our daily routines, we can actually make beneficial activities, like cooking a locally sourced meal or biking to work, the more convenient choice.  I'm really looking forward to learning new ways to make this holiday season more sustainable, knowing that by reducing the clutter of consumption will make more room for the more rewarding aspects of the season.

Use the action link below to sign up to host a screening and stay tuned for the launch of the online registration for attending a screening.
