This Movember, Make a Difference...By Growing a Moustache
Movember began in 2003 when a group of guys joked over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia, that it was time to bring the moustache back. To justify their Mos (Australian slang for moustache), they used their new 'staches to raise money for prostate cancer research. Now that bar room conversation has turned into a global movement raising money for prostate cancer research and getting men talking about their health.
To date, Movember has raised $47 million USD for its beneficiary partners in Australia, New Zealand, UK, US, Canada, Spain and Ireland making it the world’s largest charity event for men. Check out this video about Movember USA.
This Movember, the money raised in the U.S. will be split between the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
And Movember is not just for men! No, they aren't encouraging ladies to grow a 'stache (although if I don't wax I can grow a decent five o'clock upper lip shadow. Um, not gonna happen). A woman who loves a moustache and wants to bring much needed attention to cancers that affect men can sign up to become a Mo Sista and support her Mo Bros.

I might not normally do something like this, but in the spirit of giving, if you're inspired to donate to Movember, why not sponsor a TakePart blogger's moustache???

Also, you can read an article I wrote a few years back, where I interviewed the co-founder of Movember. If you want more info before you give a million dollars for the cause of sweet moustaches.
