ScrapHouse: San Francisco documents the creation of a home built entirely of recycled and salvaged materials as part of a World Environment Day challenge, and the film is now available to watch online for free until October 31st.  I'm always impressed when designers and architects find creative and stylish ways to repurpose building materials that would otherwise be sent to a landfill, especially when the recycled objects become affordable housing.

The ScrapHouse Design Team, which included an architect, a building inspector, a structural engineer and a salvage master, had just four weeks to build a house that showcases the amazing potential for recycled and salvaged materials, and the results look amazing.  Hopefully the film will inspire other designers to incorporate green methods into their work, and help reduce both waste and the demand for new materials.  Check out a video walk through of the house after the jump and visit Green Planet Films to watch the entire film.
