Wow there really is an app for everything. Harvard Medical School has developed The Swine Flu app. For $1.99 you can learn basics about swine flu, how to reduce the risk to you and your family, and how to prepare your business for the pandemic through videos, animations and text all on your IPhone. The app also features real-time updates and news from Harvard Med School about H1N1 and lets users determine how close outbreaks are to their location through the “HealthMap” feature. The app also has an interactive symptom checker and medical hotline numbers. Check out this video about The Swine Flu application.
The HealthMap feature blows my mind. My phone can know where a life-threatening disease is? Amazing. Imagine if my phone could call the disease too? (Okay that's getting weird). Oh how I hate that "swine" is in the name of this disease. While I know it has nothing to do with pigs, I had a cold last week and ate bacon and kept thinking it meant I had H1N1.
