Moms Against Climate Change wants to remind world leaders that the fate of the world's children depends upon them taking decisive action to curb greenhouse gas emissions at the UN climate summit this December. As we discuss the future of our planet, it's imperative that we keep in mind the future generations who will be most affected by the decisions made today.
The Canadian-based organization invites parents to send in photos of their children, which will be projected on a wall near Parliament Hill in Ottawa where Stephen Harper, Prime Minister of Canada, will be reminded daily of his enormous responsibility. Moms Against Climate Change has also created one of the most inspiring and heart-melting climate action videos I have ever seen, which reminds all of us: "If our children knew the facts that we do, they'd take action. Shouldn't you?" You gotta see this: More

The first industrial-scale, commercially viable oil generator that can recycle plastic into fuel has been successfully demonstrated in Deerwood, Maryland recently. The prospect of converting 10,000 tons of any type of plastic a year into a valuable fuel and keeping the waste out of landfills is exciting, however, the generator still relies upon and perpetuates the production of petroleum-based plastics, which require enormous amounts of fuel and generate high levels of pollution. I don't mean to be a spoilsport, as I think the generator is a great temporary solution to the 50 million tons of plastic waste created by the United States alone every year, but I would ultimately like us ween ourselves from our dependency on fossil fuels. If you're curious how the generator performs this astounding feet, here you go: More

Worried about your kiddies getting lost? Then maybe you should get the “Little Buddy Tracker." This new GPS tracking device available at Best Buy can be placed in your kids lunchbox or backpack and will alert you if your child leaves the premises of where he/she is suppose to be via text message. Parents can go online and see where they are and they can also set an "acceptable area" for the kid to roam.
The UK version of the tracker called Kinderguard came out a few years back is reported to be doing well. However the Kinderguard is a tad more technical than "Little Buddy Tracker" as it measures your child’s vitals and alerts you if their heart rate, respiration or any other body isn't functioning properly.
While I see the safety purpose in such a device, it also scares me that we have now developed easy ways to track people. What will prevent people from sneaking such devices into loved ones cars, brief cases or purses? What are your thoughts?

Remember getting little UNICEF boxes on Halloween so you could trick-or-treat for both candy and donations? Well the Trick-or-Treating for UNICEF program is still going strong and has been since it was created by kids in 1950.
The Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF is the U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s signature campaign and often a child’s first experience with philanthropy. By Trick-or- Treating for UNICEF, thousands of kids and adults help UNICEF to provide nutrition, immunization, sanitation, access to clean water and proper education for children around the world. Last year, kids with their families, schools, corporations, and communities raised over $4.4 million and have raised more than $144 million to date.
Although the deadline to order boxes has passed (orders needed to be placed by noon today) you can still create one for your kid by using a downloadable canister wrapper at the UNICEF site.
Fun fact: even as a little kid I remember thinking "I wonder if anyone scams people and keeps the cash for themselves?" Yes, at seven years-old my parents cynicism had already taken hold of me.
Anyhoo, if a trick-or-treater comes by your home tomorrow with a UNICEF box be sure to give generously. Or you can always make a donation to UNICEF online and help support their wonderful work.

Editor's note: The following is a blog by Hayden Panettiere of The Whaleman Foundation/Save the Whales Again! Campaign. This was originally posted on SocialVibe.com
I’m writing this with a heavy heart. I just learned that today in Taiji, a pod of 50 pilot whales were slaughtered, exactly 2 years to the day that I personally witnessed the brutal slaughter of a pod of 50 pilot whales including mothers and their newborn babies… and the images and horrible memories of that day are now flooding back into my mind like some sadistic nightmare version of Groundhog Day.
I received the sad news from Leslie-Ann Gervais who had traveled to Taiji by herself and witnessed the carnage earlier today. I can’t tell you how dangerous it is to go to the cove when the fisherman are there and to be there alone, I can’t even fathom that. Here is what she witnessed: More

I went onto Etsy today determined to find something pumpkin related for my Pick of the Day to celebrate Halloween. I found many do-dads and truly weird things and then I came across this bag from Ployly called "Pumpkin Bag."
As it turns out the bag has nothing to do with pumpkins or Halloween really (it is shaped kind of like its meant to hold a pumpkin) but it is super cute and meant to encourage folks to stop using plastic bags. From the seller:
"The idea of this bag was from our mom. She always used a big bag to go shopping and put everything inside. When she went to market, she always told the sellers not to put things in plastic bags. She would put everything in this bag to save the global warming. With the folding fabric idea, we fold the fabric to be 2 layers style."
Awesome job mom! I think this bag looks cooler than almost every actual pumpkin item I saw!

While an American company has already partnered with the Chinese government to build a ginormous solar power plant over in China, now we're teaming with the Chinese to bring renewable energy to our shores. Sweet deal, America.
The New York Times reports that a group comprising myriad Chinese and American companies will build a huge wind farm in Texas, with the turbines built by Chinese firms.
Oh, also, Chinese banks are largely financing the $1.5 billion project, along with some loans and grants from the U.S. government. So, yeah, China loooooves owning most of the United States. Anyway, says the Times: More

Green Zone is a film about two men and their search for weapons of mass destruction. The film is based on the 2006 book Imperial Life in the Emerald City by journalist Rajiv Chandrasekaran which is based in Green Zone, Bagdad. It is directed by Paul Greengrass (United 93 , The Bourne Ultimatum , Bloody Sunday ) and stars the always amazing Matt Damon.
In the trailer below it looks to be intense and a pretty brutal exploration of the corruption behind wars and the need for people who seek out the truth. I can already feel my heart racing. More
