Obvious Child Makes Abortion a Non-Issue

All too often in movies,abortion is made out to be a big deal or non-existent when someone gets pregnant who doesn't want to be.  It is always frustrating to me that we don't see more realistic scenarios surrounding unplanned pregnancies.  Because while abortion is of course not a happy thing, it is a choice and it is one women make without a ton of drama surrounding it.

So when I found a link to Gillian Robespierre's Obvious Child in Bitch Magazine online, I was really pleased. It's a 20 minute short romantic comedy-esque film about young twenty somethings--it's simple but realistic, which is awesome. It looks at abortion as a legitimate and important choice. It also features a shot of one of my favorite NYC locations, Film Forum!
