breast_cancer_ribbonOctober is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, dedicated to increasing awareness of the importance of early breast cancer detection. And this year, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) celebrates its 25th anniversary. Show your support by participating in one of the many NBCAM events being held over the country including:

* Lee National Denim Day which is one of the largest single-day fundraisers nationwide for breast cancer.

*The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, a national series of 39-mile weekend fundraising events launched in 2003 by the Avon Foundation.

*National Mammography Day held on the third Friday in October of each year. On this day, or throughout the month, radiologists provide free or discounted screening mammograms, and women are encouraged to make a mammography appointment.

These are just a few of the many events being held all over the country in honor of NBCAM. Visit the NBCAM site for a full list of events and other ways to get involved.
