The World's Best Kept Secret Will Be Revealed in Theaters This Friday
by Keely & Pierce Brosnan
There is a cove in Taiji, Japan that is completely off limits to the public. Activists have long suspected that dolphins and porpoises were entering the cove and not coming out, but there was little evidence of what took place in those closely guarded waters. Film director Louie Psihoyos and prominent dolphin advocate Ric O’Barry assembled a team of activists, divers and special effects experts to embark a on covert mission to infiltrate the cove in the dead of night. It sounds like the plot of a Hollywood spy thriller; but in this film the danger is real.
We have long been passionate about marine mammal protection. After watching The Cove, we were astonished to discover that more than than 20,000 dolphins and porpoises are slaughtered in Japan each year, and that their meat — which contains toxic levels of mercury — is sold to consumers and in grocery stores across Japan. Without this kind of investigative journalism, the plight of dolphins and the safety of some of Japan’s seafood may not have been adequately reported. This powerful and moving film is an urgent cry for help — and now that the public finally knows the truth, we must demand change.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP:
Learn more about dolphins in captivity.
Know what seafood is ocean-friendly and safe for you to eat.
Please help us spread the word about the film. Find out when it is coming to your city, tell your friends about it and help stop the slaughter.

I am anxious to see the reaction "The Cove " receives when it is shown in Japan,I hope the shame of this practice of wholesale slaughter of dolphins will force these fishermen to stop. Japan appears in need of education of what is happening in their own back yard. Dolphins have protected humans in need, now it is our turn to protect them.
Les dauphins sont des animaux sensibles et intelligents et qui ne font de mal à personne.Il faut à tout prix les préserver et j'espère que le Japon écoutera nos demandes.
And God created man.................what happened next was not good............GREED is the word...........when all the oceans & rivers are polluted.....when all the tress are gone and the animals extinct......maybe then man will learn that we can't eat money!! Native American statement
Just saw the movie last weekend. I have never been so haunted by a movie in my life. Truly, inhumane act against these animals.
I saw the movie "The Cove" in Broome Australia 16 Aug 09. I had no idea what it was about but decided to go as i was holidaying there. I was horrified at what i saw and really fought the urge to get up and walk out as i new i had to open my eyes as to what was happening in Japan. I am definately going to spread the word and encourage people to see the movie. The more people that see it the more power we have to stopping this slaughter.
This is criminal. When will the movie be shown on Kausi?
I haven`t seen The Cove yet, but from the things that I saw through the net..., is undiscribable! I think the JApanese government should stop this slaughter soon, for our ecosystem, if there is left any I wonder!!!!!!, but at least we should all rise our voices around the world, so that, we can be heard, and this way we can change many things on our planet Earth!!! I love dolphins, and all the other sea creatures.....STOP IT !!!!!!!!!!
As one of the cameramen on The Cove... I thank you for your support of the project. As a fellow lover of the ocean, I commend you for using your notoriety to help get the word out. Thanks Pierce & Keely!
I have not seen the Cove but I have read what others who have seen it. I have one question What is wrong with the Japanese that they have got to slaughter Whales and the Dolphins. There are fish out there to eat leave the mamals alone. I'm am just sicken by this. What can we do to SAVE them?
I need to know if it's going to be shown in Mexico.
this is typical of japan they always slaughter anything in the ocean they are a cruel race of people particularly their government animals are nothing to them
It is nothing compared to the (b?)millions of chickens, turkeys, cows, etc killed each year but gosh darn it, dolphins are so cute!
uh!!!!! these are called domestic animals, bred for purpose!
ITS NOT ONLY HAPPENING IN JAPAN...SEE MY BLOG...www.thenaturaleye.com..."When Our Oceans Run Red"
Dolphins are not the only animals in danger in the Ocean, Bluefin tuna are in grave danger and are actually endangered, and we are eating them at places like NOBU sushi all over the globe, including in the USA!!! The film is great but if you really care about the ocean think locally and don't eat endangered tuna and swordfish and marlin!
Right now the movie is not in any theater near me but the trailer was enough to swell my heart and feel so appalled at what humans do to animals. Why is it that what needs to be in the front page always seems to get shoved aside for information that only feeds the curiosity of nosey people like movie star gossip . Come on people lets focus!
This is a crime & the Japanese government is doing NOTHING! Please! We MUSt do what we can to see that it STOPS!!!!
If we really want to protect the dolphins, we should be asking the right question: why are there toxic levels of mercury in their bodies and how can we protect them all, not just the ones who are caught in The Cove.
Just google 'Geoengineering Plan B' and you might discover why there is a large number of fish now found with cancer, and why our water ecosystems have died off and why high levels of mercury found in dolphins. In addition to why so many people now die of cancer, asthma & sinus & lung diseases from the geoengineering aerosol programs.
Everyone must see this movie to become aware of the atrocities that are happening to dolphins in Taiii Japan. Cruel and heinous killing of dolphins WILL NOT be tolerated! We must TAKE PART NOW to stop this inhumane act!
i saw The Cove last night and was blown away!!! shocking and heartbreaking that human beings have the capacity to do so much GOOD and yet when given the choice can really screw things up. the slaughter in Japan MUST stop. i swam with dolphins in Hawaii and ride the waves with them in Malibu. They are awesome creatures and we must protect them!!!
