Top 10 Earth Day Campaigns You Can't Miss

Earth Day is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference for the planet, and we've found ten amazing Earth Day campaigns to help you TakePart in this years activities.  And be sure to check out the awesome Earth Day programming on Hulu, which Gina mentioned earlier.

1.  Anthropologie

For Earth Day, Anthropologie has designed a beautiful site devoted to the plight of the honey bee, offering you ways to learn more about Colony Collapse Disorder and why bees are mysteriously disappearing.  Here at TakePart we are extremely concerned about the ongoing problem of CCD, which threatens to wipe out one third of our food supply and we are thrilled that companies like Anthropologie are helping educate the public and helping to  find a solution.  Check out their cool storefronts on Flickr and takepart through their website.

2.  Greenpeace

If you're looking to head to the front lines of the fight to protect our planet, Greenpeace wants you to become a climate activist this Earth Day. Their new video is like of those inspirational military commercials, only they're looking for a few good environmentalists:

Even if you're not ready to rappel from the Jesus statue in Rio yet, you can still takepart by asking world leaders to personally attend the upcoming UN climate summit.

3. National Resources Defense Council

The NRDC has put together a special package of Earth Day resources including eco-friendly shopping guides, advice to green your home, and fun kids activities.  They also have a section that allows you to make your voice heard in Washington to help protect the planet's natural treasures.

4.  Disney

In addition to releasing Disneynature's Earth on Earth Day and planting a tree for every person who sees the film opening weekend, Disney has tons of other activities, events and promotions planned for this week.  There will be a plastic bottle recycling campaign, Earth Day murals painted, and offer tons of earth friendly products.

5. Sustainable Table

Our friends at Sustainable Table can show you how by preparing a locally sourced meal for Earth Day you can help protect the planet from home.  Even if you don't have tons of time to spare this week, a simple, local meal can make a world of difference, and taste delicious, too!

6.  Witness

Drawing an important, but often overlooked connection between environmental protection and human rights, Witness challenges us to rethink the significance of Earth Day. takepart by learning how interconnected these issues are and find out what you can do to help.

7. National Geographic

Learn the history and facts behind Earth Day from National Geographic, and find out what you can do to get involved.  And while you're there, check out their photo gallery of quirky ways to mark the day.

8.  Earth Day Network

As you might expect, the Earth Day Network is super green hub for Earth Day activities.  You can make a call to Congress, plan an event on campus, or join their Billion Acts of Green initiative.  Become a member of the Green Generation, a movement towards sustainability that includes everyone.

9.  Environmental Protection Agency

The EPA provides great resources to find volunteer opportunities for Earth Day in your community.  They also have handy guides to show you what you can do at home, work, and school to green your routine.  And there's a special message from EPA administrator Lisa Jackson challenging Americans to help build a green energy economy.

10.  Food & Water Watch

Food & Water Watch has loads of awesome campaigns to get you moving on Earth Day this year with events taking place all over the country, and the chance to host your own screening of the film Flow. Learn how you can help protect our vital resources.
