Living On Food Stamps: Hungry For Change
CNN reporter Sean Calleb decided to find out what it is like to live on food stamps for a month, after learning that the number of people in the United States living on food stamps rose to 31 million from around 26 million. His blog follows his experience and offers an eye-opening examination of the challenges that so many people face daily. Amidst a struggling economy and rising food prices, many people are finding themselves forced to really stretch their food dollars, and Sean wanted to find out how difficult that would be.
I imagine there is a certain awkwardness, or feeling of being uncomfortable when someone says "let's go eat," and one cannot afford it.
One thing that is clear after diving into this issue, the need for food stamps is not simply an urban issue. 60-million Americans live in rural areas, and they are hurting like everyone else.
Hopefully Sean's blog will help raise awareness to providing adequate sustenance to people in need. Recently there have been efforts to increase the amount of whole grains, fruits and vegetables available to those on food stamps. And one of the highlights of Obama's proposed economic stimulus package would allocate $20 billion to increase food stamp benefits by 14 percent.(Thankfully Nadya Sulman, the recent mother of octuplet's has announced that she is done making babies. But she may need her own stimulus package to provide the $1.4 million dollars in food stamps needed to raise her 14 children.)takepart by helping to feed those in need with Feeding America.

Our economic is so bad right now, The question is mainly will it ever come back up. Can we get out of this depressing stage of life and living right now. If things keep on as it is now every one will be on foodstamps aswell. Then what then how will we all make it then will we live like the old ways of the west.
Crime will increase beyond we could held it. If we don't do something now to help people work and keep jobs going. Don't the big people in the world and the White House know about the little people the lost and sick the weak. Are they looking out for themselves are all of us. Which of them are they doing?
Why can't the USA get our act together we use to be the place to be an in some ways we still are? Why is it that other people and race can come over get and job with no problems and us all our lives live here can't get one. Why can't Americans get more loans are even
better grants to get on our feet.
Why do the USA treat our Veterans the way they do they do and job and come home then forgotten. What up with that.
Do people even care anymore are is it all about self and money now.
If it is about who makes the most monies we are all doomed to sorrows unseen before.
People need help funds to attend college to go to get what ever they are trying to get out of college to better them self.
More forgotten people need help so crime won't rise even more.
GOVERMENT HELP US!
